Service Description

Community Satsang and Meditation will be held semi-regularly on Sunday Evenings in Williamstown. The evening will include: * A teaching (see more below) * Meditation * Discussion * Herbal Teas The Community Satsang Evenings are designed to build community and connection through the teachings and practice of meditation. This is something that I strongly feel is needed more than ever in these times. The evenings are priced at a very low rate to allow as many people to attend as possible, but I do need to cover the cost of room rental and incidentals and so I will need a minimum attendance for the evenings to proceed. Please reach out if you have any questions at all and I truly hope to see you there. The teaching topic will be relevant to our times and derived from the Classical Tantra non-dual tradition. In this tradition, it is considered important to be true to the words of one's own teacher. "When a teacher passes on their teacher's words faithfully, they are safeguarding the integrity of what was received. This lineage-based transmission ensures the preservation of the purity and effectiveness of the teachings." Therefore, the teaching topic will typically be from the library of recent teachings that I have received from my teacher - Christopher Hareesh Wallis. For more information about Classical Tantra and my teacher, see a short summary below and also here: https://hareesh.org/ The word tantra simply means "a system of ritual or essential instruction," originating in Sanskrit scriptures within the religion of Shiva and Shakti (Shaivism), which flourished across India and Southeast Asia during its classical peak around 800–1100 CE before spreading into Buddhism and other traditions. Hareesh singles out a features for special mention, since it is this feature that makes nondual Tantra different from all other yogic paths: it is fundamentally world-embracing rather than world-denying. As a non-renunciatory path, it is focused on experiencing the transcendent in the very fabric of everyday life. It seeks harmonius and healthy acceptance of all the features of human life that other yogic paths renounce . . . in other words, it is a path that is radically life-affirming rather than life-negating. All other forms of yoga are transcendentalist and renunciatory in character, except where they are influenced by Tantra itself. (Wallis, 2015)
