What Is Mind-Body Medicine?

Mind-Body Medicine combines modern science and ancient wisdom to harness your brain’s natural ability to change, using meditation to support healing, ease stress, and build deeper self-awareness, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Mind-Body medicine is the science and art of working in co-regulated balance

In this model, we hold the belief that everything is interconnected, everything interacts with and affects everything else.

I approach healing not just by viewing the body in isolation, but by considering its relationship with the external environment and your connections with others and yourself.

I also believe that the best person to heal the body is you, and this is done through self-knowledge, deep internal awareness, mindfulness and compassion.

So,  where do I come in?  I support you to journey into profound self-knowledge, and empower you to ultimately, continue your journey independently or alongside others, as you choose.

Co-regulated balance means utilising the power of meditation to effect neuroplasticity and bio-plastic change.  I guide you into meditation and then join you in the practice. I firmly believe that meditating with others is far more impactful than meditating alone. This co-regulation is evidenced by the science of the magnetic resonance field of the heart by the Heart Math Institute (here).

Who  is Mind-Body Medicine for?

Mind-body medicine is suitable for anybody. You don't need to have any special meditation experience, or, you may come with a great deal of meditation experience.  I start wherever you are and together we create the practices and the journey.

If you’re new to meditation, we begin with the basics and explore how it can support you. This includes simple guidance on posture, breathing techniques, making time in your day, finding a practice length that feels manageable, and creating support within your home and family life.

For experienced meditators, the focus can shift toward refining and extending existing practices, or exploring additional techniques tailored to support specific health concerns.

We can spend as much or as little of the session meditating as feels right for you. The sessions are guided by your needs, and I’m here to support you throughout.

The Meditation & Mind-Body Medicine that I practice at Sacred Stillness is also steeped within the wisdom traditions of Classical Tantra, Buddhism and Yoga and the philosophy that "everything affects everything" is deeply held within the non-dual practices of Classical Tantra / Non-Dual Saiva Tantra.

In the profound words of my teacher, Hareesh (Christopher) Wallis...

On this path, we seek to shed misconceptions and mental constructs that do not serve us in recognizing the Truth: all that exists, through all time & space, is one all-encompassing and unbroken field of awareness.[1]
