FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A few common questions about meditation classes, Mind-Body Medicine sessions, and what to expect at Sacred Stillness. If you don't find what you're looking for here, reach out anytime at hello@sacredstillness.com.au.
Q: Do I need experience to join a meditation class?
No experience is necessary. Classes welcome all levels, from complete beginners to those with an established practice. You're encouraged to come exactly as you are. And, as Buddhist Master Pema Chodron says so eloquently, "Start Where You Are".
Q: Where are classes held?
Face-to-face classes run in Williamstown and Maidstone, with virtual options available via Google Meet for anyone outside Melbourne's inner west. Sacred Stillness also serves Newport, Spotswood, South Kingsville, Altona, Yarraville, Seddon, Footscray, Sunshine, Flemington, Maribyrnong, and surrounding suburbs.
Q: Is Sacred Stillness suitable for neurodivergent people?
Yes. Classes and 1:1 sessions are neuro-affirming and trauma informed. Let Kylee know ahead of a session if you'd like accommodations for lighting, sound, or space.
Q: Is this a safe space for LGBTQI+ people?
Yes. Sacred Stillness is an LGBTIQ+ friendly business and supports people from all walks of life.
Q: Can meditation help with chronic pain?
Yes. Kylee holds specialised training in meditation for pain management through BIYOME, the BioMedical Institute of Yoga & Meditation, and offers a dedicated Meditation for Pain Management workshop, alongside Mind-Body Medicine sessions that support chronic pain through a biopsychosocial approach.
Q: What happens in a first Mind-Body Medicine session?
The first session focuses on getting to know you, your health, home life, and support systems, all held within a meditative container. There's no fixed agenda. Come with specific goals, or simply sit together in meditation.
Q: How much do classes and sessions cost?
Meditation classes start from $20. Mind-Body Medicine sessions range from $70 to $95 depending on format and whether it's a first or return session. Concession passes are available for students, healthcare card holders, and First Nations people, and cost should never be a barrier, so reach out to discuss options.
Q: What is Kylee's background and training?
Kylee Smith has practiced meditation across Yogic and Buddhist traditions for over 30 years, studying under teachers including Sri Swami Satyananda, Swami Niranjanananda, Sogyal Rinpoche, Mingyur Rinpoche, and the Dalai Lama. She holds a 660-hour Master's in BioMedical Meditation Therapy through BIYOME, with specialised training in trauma informed meditation, pain management, breathwork, and sound healing.
Q: How long does it take to see results from Mind-Body Medicine?
It's not a quick fix. Lasting change typically develops over a year or more of consistent practice, though many people find they enjoy the process enough to want to continue well beyond that.
